A pretty view.

One of the nicest places on campus is, I've said before, Schenley Plaza. If you go and sit on the perfect green grass and look up, all you can see is the Cathedral of Learning. I did so today and there it was, framed in all its glory by puffy white clouds and I almost forgot that I was in the middle of a huge, bustling city. It was perfection. I laid there and finished reading my book (which had a happy ending) and just wiled away the afternoon. Good times. I'll leave you with this quote, which is featured on the wrought iron gate inside the Cathedral of Learning:

Over the gates are two lines from Robert Bridges' 14th Founders Day: A Secular Ode on the Ninth Jubilee of Eaton College:

"Here is eternal spring.
For you the very stars
of heaven are new.

Well, Day 3.

It's Wednesday. I'm currently sitting in the Carnegie Public Library. It's so beautiful in here, and it reminds me a lot of Wooster. Go figure I'll find the most Collegiate Gothic place in this urban area. Right next door, connected to the library are the Carnegie museums of history and art. (I feel so cultured!) Across the street is Schenley Plaza, a brand new green space with a large square, a carousel (for real!), a huge tent thing and several food kiosks, one of which features sushi and bubble tea, I'll have to try that for lunch sometime. I don't think I'll ever get used to being a "city girl," but if I continue to spend time in places like these I could learn to enjoy it a lot more. It really doesn't even seem like the same city here. (hooray, it's going well!)

And so it begins....

Well, here I am part of the way through my first day of school. It's an interesting place, this city. I don't think it could be any more different than Wooster. Here's what I've done so far. Got up at 4:30am, thinking it was time to get up for class. Went back to sleep. Got up at 6:30am, for real this time. Got ready for class. Had a bagel and coffee. Unfortunately, I forgot my coffee mugs at home. Drank my (hot) coffee out of a water glass. Walked downstairs, walked 25 minutes to class. Got lost in the building. Waited 5 minutes for an elevator. Sat through class. Walked. Walked. Bought books at bookstore #1. Got a "Panther Card" featuring world's WORST picture. (stay tuned for a scan of said card for fun and ridicule.) Dropped something off at Byron's advisor's office. Walked. Bought wallet thing to put PantherCard in so that I don't have to see the picture. Bought books at bookstore #2. Walked. Went to get bus and shuttle maps. Walked. Ate lunch in Scaife Hall's cafeteria which is the medical school. Had a really cheap lunch with lots of medical students in scrubs. Walked some more. Made a few phone calls. And now I'm here, 3 miles later but no further away than I was before. I have one more class from 4:30 to 7:50, I'm hoping she doesn't lecture that entire time... That's it for now. Blah.

Comments, please!

To follow what my cousin Linzey did with her blog (http://buonodamangiare.blogspot.com), I changed my comments on this blog so that anyone can leave a comment, not just blogspotters.

Apartment 3

Here is my kitchen. Note the pink parasol and flowers. Juliette said it was "too white." Thanks to Laura for the frames on the fridge. Also of note: the parasol was a $3 Rogers Sale purchase, believe it or not...

Here is the full length view of the apartment, from inside my bedroom.

This is my Mary Tyler Moore-esque "J."

This is the blank wall above my desk. I don't know what to put here yet. Also, to the left of the shot is another walk-in coat closet that you can't see.

Apartment 2

Looking out of my bedroom, in the hallway, is a picture of some friends. I plan to add more black and white pictures here. :) And in the background is my Mama.

Here is my lovely, large pink couch. She is an art deco davenport (fancy, no?) and was a birthday gift. Her name is Marilyn, after Ms. Monroe. She is so named because she is pink, girly, and curvy.

This is another birthday gift (August birthdays are convenient). It's the extension of my kitchen.

Here is my kitchen, next to my living room. Oh, the joys of studio apartments.

Apartment!!

Here are the pics of my new apartment, and the Grand Tour:

This is the bathroom. I have no tub, just a large shower. If you stand in the bathroom, turn around and look out its door, you can see into the apartment next door.

These are flowers on my bathroom windowsill, and some lovely C.O. Bigelow lotion from Callie for my birthday. The bottle just happens to match the decor perfectly.

This is my large, lovely, empty walk-in closet. There are so many shelves, I don't need a dresser!

This is looking through my "hallway" into my "bedroom." The bedroom is literally just big enough for the bed. The quilt was a gift, it's from the 1920s.
